These decodable passages with comprehension questions are the perfect resource for beginning readers. Each passage is a phonics-based controlled text that contains target phonics skill words, previously taught phonics skill words and irregular high frequency words. The science of reading shows us that the connection between what our students learn in phonics and what they read is imperative for building a strong foundation in early reading.

Differentiate for student needs by using the two versions of student printables and audio recording for each passage. Using these passages and lesson plans, students will reread the decodable text to build fluency, discuss the text to build comprehension skills and write about the passage to apply and transfer their phonics skills to their writing.

This is the first of your decidable passages I have had a chance to use after attending the Winter break 4DAYSOFSOR training sessions and I love the flow and the amount of skills addressed within the teacher’s guide.
